Good issue! Sadly the last we'll see for now of George VS Dragon... What a shame... :( But that doesn't mean Andy's not got anything coming, next week his new character will appear, Boo! :D So hopefully more laughs!
Best ones this week were Desperate Dan, The Bogies, Pre-Skool Prime Minister, Postman Prat, Jibber and Steve, Doctor Loo and of course... George VS Dragon!
Worst ones this week were Davina McCaw and Nibbles, both making no sense to me whatsoever!
Curious on the Jokes Page... Agent Dog 2 Zero drawn by Jamie Smart, maybe a return for next week, I sure hope so!

PG 32: Back Page: Desperate Dan - Jamie Smart

* - In Factoids.COM the name of the inventor of the toilet is called Thomas Crapper, I'm not too bothered about this, and to be honest, I found it quite funny, but if this comic is designed for kids as well as teens and adults then surely he should of had a more appropriate name...

* - The Next Time's Desperate Dan awkwardly shows a picture of Dan with a big whale, but this story is on the back page as this week's Desperate Dan... Oops...

A pretty good issue, Bananaman, Pre-Skool Prime Minister and Terror Byte were the highlights of this week's issue, although Postman Prat, Doctor Loo, Jibber and Steve, Desperate Dan and George VS Dragon were also very good. I wasn't so impressed with Harry Hill's Real Life Adventures in TV Land (I thought the story was too confusing and didn't seem to get anywhere...), The Mighty Bork (not funny but I was pleased to see the last of the off putting wobbly lines and all the Bork, bork, bork stuff, also Rocky O'Flair was back so I was glad about that), Simples! 101 Ways to Use a Meerkat (Who the hell draws it now, it used to be great but now it's drawn by some terrible artist), Stan Helsing (The story was boring and I don't really know what it's about), CSI: Emmerdale (I do not get this whatsoever, I don't watch soaps so I'm screwed!), Bear Thrills (That pun was old and it wasn't very funny) and finally and surprisingly The Arena of Awesome (I don't know about you but I find it really boring and not funny at all... The colours are also to light and don't look good...)

Anyway despite these things, the issue is pretty good! And best of all, no Clive 5! :D

Characters absent this issue:
- Kid Cops
- Robot on the Run
- Clive 5
- Shao Lin Punks
- Little Celebs
- Noel or No Noel?
- TV Teaser
- What's in Cheryl's Hair Today?
- The Phantom Pharter
If the Dandy did the Cube
- The Not-so-Secret Millionaire
- The Stynx Effect
- The Last Windbender
- The Sheriff of Dottingham
- Coronation Street Fighter
- The Twiglet Saga
And obviously the one issue laster:
- Count Snotula (Where the hell did this guy go?!)

So now you've read this ramble about the Dandy go buy it! It's a great issue! :D

The Beano - Issue 3569

New week, new issue!

PG 1: Front Cover - (featuring Dennis and Gnasher) - Jimmy Hansen
PG 2: Whassup! With Dennis
PG 3: Dennis and Gnasher - Jimmy Hansen
PG 5: Billy Whizz - Nick Brennan
PG 6: Minnie the Minx - Ken Harrison
PG 8: Britain's Funniest Gag
PG 9: Ball Boy - Dave Eastbury
PG 10: Advert - Lego City (comic strip)
PG 12: The Numskulls - Barry Glennard
PG 14: Ratz - Hunt Emerson
PG 15: Beano Subscription Page
PG 16: The Bash Street Kids - David Sutherland
PG 18: Robbie Rebel - Ken Harrison
PG 19: Robbie Rebel and Stripz - Duncan Scott
PG 20: Beano V.I.P.
PG 22: Fred's Bed - Tom Paterson
PG 24: Ivy the Terrible - Diego Jourdan
PG 25: Beano - Back to the 80's
PG 26: Little Plum - Hunt Emerson
PG 28: Roger the Dodger - Barrie Appleby
PG 30: Meebo and Zuky - Laura Howell
PG 31: 60 Second Dennis - Nigel Parkinson
PG 32: Back Page - Adverts for BeanoMAX and Beano V.I.P.

Great issue, good to see Meebo and Zuky was back! The two pager Lego advert irritated me slightly but having it as a comic strip was a good move. A reference to Back to the Future in Back to the 80's which amused me as I'm a massive fan of the films. Robbie Rebel was very funny, great artwork with a great storyline, Tom once again amazes me with Fred's Bed, his art style is incredible! Billy Whizz and Ratz were also good but it all went downhill towards the end with Ivy and Roger the Dodger... The Bash Street Kids had good artwork but the storyline was poor...

Anyway, this one was a great issue, really good, so yeah, go buy it now! :D

A pretty good issue, Pre-Skool Prime Minister was definitely the best although it was sadly only one page... Postman Prat was great as well! Desperate Dan and surprisingly Bananaman also being pretty good...

I honestly did not get Coronation Street Fighter at all, but I liked the name of the strip.... I don't watch soaps...

Have a read, it's about the old revamped Desperate Dan when the Dandy Xtreme appeared, biggest fail ever, they moan that Dan doesn't eat cow pies even though the picture below has the new Desperate Dan eating? You guessed it, a cow pie.

Yes, a great shame Kid Cops and Robot on the Run aren't in this week's, hopefully they will be in next week's!

Not a bad issue, not to much humour really, a shame as it didn't live up to it's slogan this time...

My Dream Beano

Feel free on this blog entry to post your dream Beano...

PG 1: Front Cover and Dennis the Menace - Tom Paterson/Jimmy Hansen/Steve Beckett
(Beano related here, no rubbish about adverts and win this and that, classic front covers with comic strips and cartoons)
(Keep Dennis the same as the 2009 Tom Paterson version but with some changes, 1) catapult, pea shooter, 2) Make him menacing and lose the angelic smile, 3) Make Walter a softy again.)
PG 2: Contents - Any artist (Take turns)
(It gets boring, same old contents, with all this rubbish about latest kid's shows and non related comic stuff, how about any artist draws a crazy cartoon picture featuring the Beano characters from that issue, have this feature every issue, like Leo Baxendale's fantastic content pages he drew for the Annuals)
PG 3: Biffo - Laura Howell/Andy Fanton/Phil Corbett
(Ditch 'the Bear' and Buster, make it a silent strip like before, to achieve this, use an artist like Laura Howell who I imagine will be great at silent strips, another good choice would be Andy Fanton or Phil Corbett
PG 4: Billy Whizz - Nick Brennan
(Keep it the same, it's a classic already, there's no need to ruin it)
PG 5: Baby Face Finlayson - Jamie Smart
(A classic and what better way to bring it back than to have Jamie Smart draw it? He has a great imagination and the perfect humour)
PG 6: Minnie the Minx - Steve Beckett
(I'm friends with Steve Beckett on deviantART and his art style for Minnie is fantastic, not too cartoony but not too realistic either...)
PG 8: Ball Boy - Dave Eastbury
(One of my favourite strips, keep it exactly the same!)
PG 9: Little Plum - Hunt Emerson
(Hunt's Little Plum was fantastic! A real treat to read!)
PG 10: The Numskulls - Barry Glennard/Tom Paterson
(Let the two share this strip, introduce more than just Edd's Head and don't have it all focused on the five Numskulls, bring more of them into it.)
PG 12: Shorts: New Character, Joe King - Jimmy Hansen, New Character, New Character
PG 13: Meebo and Zuky - Laura Howell
(Have more slapstick cartoon comedy and violence, this comic strip is capable of doing so, it just hasn't shown this yet...)
PG 14: The 3 Bears - Mike Pearse
(One and a half pages, The 3 Bears have hilarious stories and Mike Pearse's art style suits it)
PG 15: End of 3 Bears and Stripz - Duncan Scott
(Seemed quite popular, no idea why they dropped it...)
PG 16: Super School - Lew Stringer
(Lew's Super School is fantastic! Sadly though it hasn't featured in aagggeeesss! Oh and it deserves two pages!)
PG 18: Robbie Rebel - Ken Harrison
(He's popular and some of his stories are quite funny)
PG 19: End of Robbie Rebel and Big Eggo - David Sutherland
PG 20: The Bash Street Kids - David Sutherland/Mike Pearse/Tom Paterson
(Sharing the comic strip allows more interesting stuff, people get bored seeing the same style all the time.)
PG 23: Beano Subscription
(Make it funnier like the Dandy's, maybe in the form of a comic strip)
PG 24: Our Fans (previously Beano V.I.P.)
(Let's ditch the V.I.P. thing, also have it so it shows good artwork as well as a few photos and whatnot, but only have it take up one page, Dandy Xtreme managed it...)
PG 25: Horror and Lardy - Laura Howell
(First of all, this was Sam's idea for a new story and I must say I like it! Second of all, make it black and white like Laurel and Hardy used to be)
PG 26: Fred's Bed - Tom Paterson
(It's a great strip and Tom draws it so well)
PG 28: Ivy the Terrible - Diego Jourdan
(Make it two pages, but don't make the comic as dark as usual, bright colours!)
PG 30: Life in the Beano Office - Barrie Appleby
(From Beano Annual 2011, like the Sparky People from the Sparky)
PG 31: The Carrotty Kid - Andy Fanton
(A great story with a great artist which needs recognising)
PG 32: Freddie Fear - Dave Eastbury
(Keep with the new style)
PG 33: Ratz - Hunt Emerson and Laura Howell
(They were a good team!)
PG 34: Uh Oh Si Co - Nigel Parkinson
(Who cares if it lost! It's great!)
PG 35: Shorts: New Character - Andy Fanton, New Character, New Character - Phil Corbett, New Character
PG 36: Roger the Dodger - Barrie Appleby
(Barrie's style is great but make the dodges more realistic like in the old classics)
PG 37: End of Roger the Dodger and Dodge Clinic - Barrie Appleby
(From the 1980's when readers sent in there problems and Roger would give them dodges to use)
PG 38: Home Invasion - David Sutherland
(It lost but it was good! Two pages will expand the story so more can happen, also make it funny, Zap Zodiac was a continuous story which was funny so why can't this be?)
PG 40: Billy the Cat - Laura Howell/Nigel Dobbyn
(Different styles but both great!)
PG 42: General Jumbo - Steve Beckett
PG 44: Calamity James - Tom Paterson
PG 45: Harley the Pig - Jimmy Hansen
(Like Rasher but with Harley)
PG 47: New Character
PG 48: Lord Snooty III and his Pals - Nigel Parkinson
(Go for classic Snoots but have Snoots III obviously as Snoots, 1 and 3 as Snitch and Snatch, Frankie as a mixture of the girls, Naz as Thomas or Scrapper and Emo as Thomas or Scrapper, also introduce a new dog for Snoots which can be like Angus)
PG 49: Next Time
PG 50: Back Page: Beano Manga - Laura Howell

Phew! :D

As well as that I also got the Dennis and Gnasher Annual 2011, which is fantastic, nearly every page is drawn by Tom Paterson making it a treat to read! There's also The Beano and Dandy Comic Heroes 2011 which is pretty good but I've sadly read most of the stories...

And off the subject of DC Thomson and onto another famous character, I was lucky enough to have also got the Andy Capp Annual 2011, which features old strips in colour by Roger Mahoney and Roger Kettle. A guaranteed read and a great laugh!
